My old iPod Classic finally died and the $80 repair kit I bought was a total waste

That $80 kit stings but it's just an old music player, right?

Have you ever held a classic iPod? That click wheel was perfect, and it just worked without any apps or notifications. For people who grew up with them, it's not just old tech, it's like a favorite album you keep going back to. The build quality and simple design are things you just don't get anymore. Paying to fix one makes total sense if it brings back that feeling.

Totally get what you mean about it being like a favorite album. I still have my old iPod Video and that click wheel is just a perfect piece of design. Picking it up feels solid in a way my phone never does, no buzzing or pinging, just music. Fixing it is cheaper than therapy for that hit of pure nostalgia.
