Spent 4 hours trying to fix a Game Boy Color screen...

Found my old Game Boy Color in a box and the screen was just a blank white square. Took me 4 whole hours of opening it up and cleaning the ribbon cable connector with rubbing alcohol before it finally flickered back to life. Has anyone else had that happen with a specific model?

Four hours is wild, you probably just needed a new screen instead.

I mean, that "four hours is wild" comment kinda hits on something. It's funny how people always say you should just replace broken stuff instead of trying to fix it, but half the time the old thing works fine once you put in the effort. Idk, I think there's a whole pattern with how we treat old tech versus new tech. Like, with modern stuff, one thing breaks and you just toss it, but with these older game systems, people will spend hours on them because they know they're built to last. Maybe it's just me but that says a lot about how we think about the stuff we own now.
