I figured out the key to my garage makeover.
It was all about adding more light. I put up two plain fixtures on the ceiling last week. Now I can see every corner without fumbling. It was a basic job but it turned the whole space around.

Huh, interesting! I actually see it the total opposite way for my own garage. For me, light just showed me all the junk I still had to deal with. The real game changer was getting ruthless with the clutter first. I cleared out a whole wall of old boxes and finally made a clear path to the workbench. That made way more of a difference than any new bulb.

Ever notice how more light just makes your clutter look worse? I put in bright bulbs and now I can't ignore every box I've been meaning to deal with. It's like the lights are calling me out.

Totally get what you mean about the light calling you out, but I'm with @clairethompson on this one. That harsh glare is actually the best motivator I've found. Seeing every single dusty box in sharp detail is what finally made me sort my basement last month. Without that brutal honesty from my new LED strips, I'd still be stepping around the same pile of old clothes.
