inMy old teacher told me to never blow a bubble on the first gather
That three hundred dollar Saturday sounds rough... but I've found the expensive way isn't always the best teacher. Sometimes it's just the most punishing one. A good lesson should actually teach you why the step matters, not just make you scared of the cost. If the only thing you learn is to never skip it again, you might not understand what you're doing right when you do it. The goal should be knowing the reason, not just fearing the price tag.

inAppreciation post: A client's skin cleared up after 6 months of consistent treatments
It's amazing when a plan finally comes together after months of work. Doesn't it show how most real progress is just quiet consistency? We see it everywhere, from learning an instrument to fixing a garden. People want quick fixes, but the big wins are usually just showing up and doing the small thing, over and over. That's the real work, right?

inThinking back on how long it took to build up a French polish.
Yeah, the "gummy" thing is exactly what happened to my coffee table.

inShowerthought: I put my hourly rate on my website and got a weird call
Man, that's everywhere now. People act like your real work is worth less than their pretend currency of "exposure". Good on you for not playing that game.

inQuestion about how we all learned to spot key issues from cover wear before price guides were everywhere.
Read an old guide that said staple rust is a killer for silver age books. They called it "rust migration" where it can spread to the pages. @kevinross is right, spotting those tiny spine ticks needs good light. Makes you realize how much you miss just looking at the cover.
