Still buzzing from winning our community chili contest

Hey folks, just had to share this small win. Our area held a chili cook-off at the spring fest last Saturday, and I decided to jump in. I've been perfecting my recipe for ages, using peppers from a grower just a few blocks away. On the day, I kept my pot going slow and steady, really focusing on the balance of heat and flavor. When the judges called my name for first place, I was totally shocked. Got a little ribbon and a bunch of high-fives from neighbors. Best part was watching folks line up for seconds and asking for tips. It's just a cool way to feel more connected through food here.
