Went to change a switch in a 1920s house and found an old fuse box hidden behind drywall

Honestly I gotta disagree with the whole "call an electrician" thing lol. Old houses are supposed to be fun and quirky, not lifeless and sanitized. Half the charm of a 1908 place is never knowing if you're gonna get zapped when you flip a switch. Tracing circuits and labeling everything just takes all the mystery out of it. Plus those crumbling cloth wires add character and tell a story, nobody wants boring Romex in a historic home.

Ramp vs. lift debate really hit me last month at a local event

Rented a van lift once that broke down halfway through. Nightmare.

Everything changed when I stopped washing towels with fabric softener

I mean, is it really that deep though? Machine washable rugs were around forever before the big push, just not marketed as a whole thing. People were throwing their cheap rugs in the wash for years, nobody screamed about it. Maybe some people just got caught up in a trend and now they're overthinking it. I dunno, seems like a lot of fuss over something that's been a pretty basic fix for ages.

Overheard a coworker mention his solar panels paid for themselves in 4 years

Wait, $15 a month? My phone plan costs more than that. Did he say if that's the whole year average or just a good month?

I thought the whole 'wrap your brisket in butcher paper' thing was just for show

My buddy Tom from down the street did that exact thing. Wrapped his brisket in foil for the whole cook and it came out like a science experiment. He said the bark turned into this weird soggy paste and you could scrape it off with a fork. Now he swears by unwrapped for the first few hours and only wrapping in paper after the stall. That brisket was a tough lesson but he says it taught him more than any Youtube video ever did.
