PSA: I thought AI upscaling old family photos was a gimmick until I ran one of my grandma from 1962
I do not usually buy into this stuff (my phone camera is from 2019 and still going strong), so when my sister sent me that AI photo restoration app I rolled my eyes. She had scanned a shot of our grandma at a diner in Cleveland from 1962, and the face was basically a smear of grays. I ran it through the free tool and 20 seconds later her whole face came back, the curl in her hair, even the coffee cup on the table. It is not perfect (the teeth look a little off) but my mom cried when I showed her. Has anyone found one of these that handles old black and white group shots without turning everyone into a wax figure?
