Update: Stopped trusting AI resume screeners after last month's disaster

I used to just upload my resume to job sites and let the AI systems filter me through. It felt efficient, like I was covering more ground. But last month I applied to 40 jobs with my standard resume and got zero callbacks. My nephew, who works in HR tech, ran my resume through a free scanner he uses. It turned out my PDF had weird hidden formatting from an old template that made half my skills unreadable to the software. I spent a weekend redoing my resume as plain text with clear sections and keywords from job postings. Now I get about 1 response for every 5 applications. Has anyone else had this problem where the AI just drops your resume for no good reason?

Bro i literally fixed a similar problem by pasting my resume into Notepad first then copying it back into a new Word doc. Clears out all that ghost formatting from old templates.

Guess my resume was hiding more than my lack of job skills.
