Warning: My AI assistant tried to order a pizza during a demo
I was showing off a new voice-controlled home system at a tech meetup in Austin, and it misheard 'turn on the lights' as 'order a large pepperoni'. Got a confirmation text from the pizza place 30 seconds later. Anyone else have their automation tools take things way too literally?

Tried to order a pizza during a demo" is a new level of tech fail. I feel for you, that's the kind of thing that would make me just turn the whole system off and pretend it never happened. ninasingh has a point about the free dinner, but now you have to explain to a room full of people why a pizza guy is on his way. My smart speaker once added a hundred dollars worth of cat food to a cart because it heard a TV commercial.

Cracked up reading this because I basically did the same thing last week. My automation system heard "set a timer for 15 minutes" and instead ordered 15 large pizzas from Dominos. I had to call the store and beg them to cancel while my wife stood there staring at me like I lost my mind. The worst part is the pizza guy showed up anyway with one of them and now I have a half eaten pepperoni sitting in my fridge as a reminder of my own stupidity. How do you explain to friends that your smart home just wanted to feed everyone?
