inAm I the only one who started using a thermal camera for every call?
Wait, are we sure it was really about to start a fire? @williamt44, those cameras can show warm spots from just bad insulation or a light fixture... sometimes it's not as bad as it looks. People get scared over nothing with that thermal stuff. I'd want an electrician to check it before calling it a fire hazard.

inPSA: I chose a $40 Klein non-contact voltage tester over the cheaper generic one for a job in a 1920s Boston brownstone last Tuesday.
That's a really good point I never considered. My buddy had a cheap meter fail on a job and the insurance fight was brutal. You're right that the trusted brand is a form of proof you did things right.

inHot take: My Tuesday shift felt like a day from a different timeline
Okay, you just convinced me. I always jumped to the weirdest explanation first. But yeah, a simple tech screw-up makes way more sense.

inStopped by the new library branch downtown and the ceiling finish is the smoothest I've ever seen.
My first time using one I looked like a cartoon character fighting a giant sticker. Took me half a day just to get the mud to stop falling off the trowel onto my head. You save time on the ceiling but lose it cleaning your ears. Once you get the hang of it though, you can cover a whole room in a couple of passes. It's a game changer for flat work, just has a steep learning curve.

inPSA: Don't try to make your own seitan from scratch without a plan
It's a smell that never really leaves the walls.
