My sister swore by preheating for 5 minutes, she was right
My sister visited last month and watched me throw frozen fries straight into the basket without preheating. She said the air fryer needs 5 minutes empty first to get the crisping right. I thought it was a waste of time and energy. Then I tried it with a batch of chicken wings, same recipe I always use. The skin came out way crunchier, and the inside stayed juicy. Now I do the 5 minute warm up every time, even for frozen stuff. Has anyone else noticed a big difference with preheating on their machine?

Wait, is this actually a thing people do on the regular? My buddy Greg swore his air fryer was broke until he saw a YouTube video about preheating. He used to throw in everything cold and got super bummed about soggy results. After he started doing the empty warm up for like 4 minutes, his tater tots came out like restaurant quality. Now he won't shut up about it and even preheats for toast. It's funny how such a tiny step changes everything, but yeah, I'm starting to believe the hype.
