Hit a control cable on a Cessna 172 that ended my lazy habit for good
For about 6 months I was reusing the same cotter pins on control cables because I figured they were fine. Then during an annual inspection another mechanic pointed out a hairline crack on one. Has anyone else cut corners like that and had it come back on them?

So did the old pin snap during removal or was it already cracked in place?
