Five years of service calls and I finally caught a panel before it failed

Had a DSC system I put in back in 2019 for a dental office in Reading. Went out for a keypad issue yesterday and noticed the transformer was running way hotter than normal. Checked the battery and it was swollen to almost twice its size. Got it swapped out in 20 minutes before it could vent and ruin the panel. Anyone else catching these things early just from paying attention to little details?

Oh man, that's a good catch! I had something similar with an old panel at my sister's place last year, the transformer was humming so loud you could hear it from the next room. Made me think of that time I forgot to check the battery on my own system for like two years and it was totally dead, whoops.

fr that's just how it goes with house stuff right? one thing leads to another and next thing you know everything's falling apart.
