Just realized my boss was right about dual-zone panels

My boss told me six months ago to stop using single-zone panels on residential jobs, but I kept doing it to save time on wiring. Last Tuesday in Phoenix I had a false alarm from a motion detector that triggered the whole system, and the customer was furious. Has anyone else found that dual-zone panels are worth the extra install time?

Three months ago I wired up a single-zone in my own house and had to come home from a vacation because a spider set off the motion detector. My boss laughed for a solid two minutes when I told him. The extra fifteen minutes it takes to run that second pair of wires beats getting called back at 2 AM by a mad customer every time. Now I just tell myself I'm too lazy to deal with the headaches later, not too lazy to do it right the first time.

Well, depends on your perspective, a spider setting off an alarm isn't exactly a five-alarm fire.
