Noticed something weird at a hardware store in Austin yesterday

I was grabbing some wire for a job at a local hardware store and saw they had a whole endcap of DIY alarm kits just sitting there gathering dust. The guy stocking shelves said they haven't sold a single one in 3 months because people keep coming back confused about zoning and window sensors. Has anyone else seen these kits rotting on shelves or is it just my area?

Those kits are pretty hit or miss for people who aren't already into tech stuff. The instructions usually assume you know what a window sensor is or how to wire the zones, so it's no shock they just sit there.

Question whether it's really that big of a deal though? Most people can just look up a YouTube video if they get stuck.
