That $80 cellular dialer I bought last month already saved me

Picked up a Honeywell 4G LTE communicator for a system I installed out in rural Lancaster County. Customer lost power and phone line during a storm Tuesday night, but the alarm still called out fine because it went over cell. Worth every penny for remote spots where landlines drop out. Anyone else using these on new installs instead of POTS?

Wait, did you have any trouble programming the communicator to work with your specific panel? I've heard some of those Honeywell cellular units can be a bit picky about firmware versions depending on the alarm panel you pair them with. But yeah, for rural spots like that where POTS is basically a ghost, going cellular is the only real option now. I've been swapping out old POTS dialers for cellular ones on service calls for about two years, and it's night and day how much more reliable they are when the weather gets nasty. The upfront cost stings, but not having to roll a truck out at 2 AM for a false alarm because the phone line is dead makes it totally worth it.

POTS line ghost is right. Did your cell dialer ever interfere with garage door openers?
