Chose the local one-man crew over the big outfit in Calgary, no regrets so far

Everyone told me to go with the established company with 40 trucks and a showroom, but for a 900 square foot basement pour I took a chance on a solo guy who's been doing it for 15 years. He showed up at 7am sharp with his own pump truck and finished the footings in one day, where the other bid was a crew of six and a 3 week wait. The price came in at $11,200 versus $14,800, and his rebar layout was actually more precise. Anyone else had better luck with the smaller operator on a tight job?
