I finally ditched the ladder for my sand-and-paint routine on the 1950s stucco in my North Valley house
For my first two years of patching cracks in my stucco I was up and down an 8 foot ladder like a total chump, moving it every three feet and still missing spots. A neighbor who does this stuff for a living watched me one Saturday and said I was wasting half the afternoon on setup alone. So I got a cheap rolling scaffold off Marketplace for $120 and now I roll it along the wall, do a whole stretch of crack fill and elastomeric paint in one pass. I got the east side of the house done in a single afternoon last weekend, and that used to be a two weekend job. Has anyone found a better way to reach the tops of that rounded stucco by the windows without dragging the scaffold over the flower beds?
A cheap rolling scaffold off Marketplace sounds like a great deal until you're the guy trying to roll it through a flower bed. Mine sank into the mulch every time and I ended up dragging it anyway. Honestly the ladder plus a paint pole with an angled tip covered the rounded spots by my windows just as fast, and I never had to store a scaffold.
