Hot take: the retired guy at the parts counter in Dayton told me to stop replacing igniters on Whirlpool gas ranges and check the regulator first
I blew four service calls and about $180 in parts chasing igniter faults before I finally tested the regulator he kept pointing at, and it was starving the burners the whole time, so now I want to know how many of you check gas pressure before you ever pull a burner apart.
I ran into this same thing on a Frigidaire last year, kept swapping igniters and the flame was still lazy and yellow. Turned out the regulator was set way low, only putting out about 3 inches of water column when it should've been closer to 6 or so. A manometer was the best $40 I ever spent, takes two minutes to check at the burner port before you tear anything apart. Now I test pressure first on every gas call, saves me a ton of wasted parts and callbacks.
