Overheard a kid at the parts counter say something that stuck with me

Was picking up a defrost timer in Minneapolis last Tuesday and this young tech, maybe 22, says to his buddy that he never trusts the factory wiring diagram, always checks resistance himself. I remember when I started in the 90s I just went by the sticker and got burned twice on bad thermistors. That same week I had a fridge that tested fine on paper but was shorting intermittent, so I dug deeper and found a cracked harness. Makes me wonder how many of us old guys skip the basic checks cause we've done it so long, you still test everything every time or do you trust your gut after 20 years?

Can't believe a kid that young is outsmarting the old school sticker method.
