Pulled a 15 year old fridge compressor yesterday what a difference

I replaced a compressor on a whirlpool from 2008 that had been running hot for years. Pulled it out and the oil looked like tar, completely black and thick. New unit installed with proper start components and it chilled down in under an hour. Any of you guys ever seen a compressor that old still running but making the whole system work twice as hard?

What was the amp draw before vs after?

Pulled a similar old R12 unit last month. Amp draw dropped from 12 to 6.

Bet that condenser coil was caked too, acting like a wool blanket.
