Put in a third-party compressor seal on a warranty job. Other techs say it's wrong, but the unit works perfect and I stand by it.

Wait, but doesn't that void the warranty?

Man, you're spot on with this. I had the same thing happen last month with a condenser fan motor. Used an aftermarket part on a warranty call, and the other guys were giving me grief. But it's been running smooth for weeks now, no issues at all. Sometimes those OEM parts are just overpriced for no good reason. As long as the job gets done right, who cares where the seal came from? lol

When I use aftermarket seals on warranty jobs, I always verify the pressure and temperature ratings match the OEM specs. Keeping a simple note of the part number and where I bought it covers me if questions come up later. A proper install that holds without leaks is what really matters in the end.
