Rant: I used a hairdryer to fix a dishwasher's control board last week
Honestly, the board had a weird moisture fault code, so I heated it gently for 90 seconds and it's been fine for a month. Has anyone else tried this kind of heat trick on modern electronics, or is it just asking for trouble?

My old Xbox 360 got the red ring of death back in the day, and the towel trick actually worked for a solid six months. Wrapping it up and letting it overheat felt like performing risky surgery, but it bought me time until I could afford a new one. Makes you wonder how many electronics are just one good warm-up away from working again, right? I guess the real trouble starts when you have to do it every other Tuesday.

My old 8800 GT got a second life with a heat gun back in 2010. Grace_hunt84 is right about that temporary fix feeling like risky surgery, just buying you a little more time. It's a weird mix of victory and dread when it actually works.
