Stopped guessing on motor rotations and now my jobs go smoother
I always had trouble with dishwasher pump motors spinning the wrong way. It meant taking things apart again. So, I made a habit to mark the rotation direction with a marker before removing the old motor. Now, I just match the marks when putting in the new one. No more second guesses. Jobs finish faster, and I look more skilled. It seems so obvious, but why didn't I think of it sooner? Just a small tip that saved me a bunch of time.

How many times did you take the whole thing apart again before you figured that out. It's one of those things that seems stupid once you hear it, like checking if something is plugged in. You'd mark a battery before pulling it, so why not a motor. We get so stuck on the big repair we miss the tiny trick that makes it work.

Love when the solution is that simple and obvious. Can't believe we ever took apart appliances twice like chumps.

But what if we overcomplicate things because we're scared to make it worse? We dive into the hard fix first, thinking it shows we're serious about solving the problem. Why do we ignore the simple check that could save us hours? It's like we need to prove we struggled before we allow ourselves an easy win. That mindset turns a quick job into a whole afternoon of frustration. Maybe the real skill is learning to try the obvious step before anything else.
