Warning: the old tech at the supply house in Boise says check the dryer vent before you swap the thermal fuse
I was about to order a third thermal fuse for a customer's dryer when he stopped me and asked if I had checked the vent pipe. Turns out it was packed with 6 years of lint and the fuse was doing its job the whole time. How many of you guys check airflow before you touch the fuse, or is that just a Boise thing?
check the vent before you swap the thermal fuse" is the kind of thing you learn the hard way. Buddy of mine swapped two fuses in one week on a Whirlpool, customer kept calling back mad. Third trip he finally pulled the vent hose off the back and a giant sock of lint came out, thing was so clogged the dryer was basically cooking itself. He said the old timer at his shop told him the same thing years ago and he just never listened.
