Can we talk about that one perfect week last spring?

I had a week in May where every single tree I climbed just worked out perfectly. No dead branches hiding in the canopy, no surprise rot in the trunks, and the weather held at 72 degrees for five straight days. But then last Tuesday I had a nightmare job on a big old oak where three limbs snapped off before I even got the ropes set right. Is it just me or do you either get a week full of easy trees or a week where everything fights back?

You ever have a week where the universe just decides to play nice with you? I had a similar stretch last spring where every branch I tested held strong, the wind was calm, and I didn't get a single splinter. Then BAM, the next week I slipped on wet bark and landed on my tailbone so hard I saw stars. It's like the trees have a MEMORY and they take turns being jerks. I swear there's a schedule somewhere, probably written in sap or something, that decides when you get easy work and when you earn every dollar.

Jumped right into a similar groove last month @rileyw72 and honestly I just leaned into it super hard. I brought extra coffee, ignored my phone, and made sure I wasn't rushing any cuts. Had three days in a row where every branch broke exactly where I wanted and my ropes never snagged once. I even checked my tools twice just to make sure they were sharp, because I figured why push my luck. It helped me feel like I was in control even though I knew the trees were just being nice for a little while.
