Took me 18 months to figure out why my site photos looked hazy

Finally solved it. All those digital photos from the dig site, the ones I kept editing and guessing about, they were hazy because I was wiping the lens with a regular cloth. Turns out micro scratches scatter light. Switched to a lens pen after reading a random comment, the difference is night and day. Has anyone else fought a dumb camera issue that cost them way too much time?

Dang, that is a brutal one. I spent a full season thinking my camera sensor was dying because every shot had this weird soft look, turns out it was just a greasy fingerprint right on the front element that I kept smearing around with my shirt. You get so locked into editing the photos that you forget to check the simple stuff first. A lens pen is now the first thing I pack before anything else.
