I used to think asking for help was a weakness, then Tuesday proved me wrong

For like 10 years I refused to ask anyone for anything. Thought it meant I wasn't smart enough or something. Then at work on Tuesday, I spent 3 hours stuck on a spreadsheet formula in Google Sheets. My coworker Jenna walked by, saw me staring at my screen, and just said 'you know there's a function for that, right?' She showed me in 2 minutes. I felt dumb, but also relieved. It hit me that all those hours I wasted alone could've been 5 minute conversations. Same thing happened last week when I asked my neighbor about his compost setup. I'd been doing mine wrong for 6 months. Ever had a moment where you realized you were the one making things harder for yourself? What flipped the switch for you?

Tbh I still catch myself hesitating to ask, but yeah, it's way easier to just say 'hey, can you help me' than to suffer for hours.
