Spent 3 months fighting a squeaky floor, the fix took 20 minutes
My bedroom floor in my 1998 townhouse squeaked every single time I stepped near the window, and I tried powder, nails, even shims under the joists. Then I found a YouTube video about screwing the subfloor down from inside a closet access panel, and it took me 20 minutes to do the whole room. Has anyone else spent way too long on a simple fix that was hiding in plain sight?

Oh man, the closet access trick is a lifesaver. Same thing with my place, but it was the hallway. Spent a whole weekend with a stud finder and some weird foam stuff that did nothing. Turns out there was a crawl space hatch in the laundry room I never even noticed. Got under there with a drill and some deck screws, banged out the whole squeaky stretch in about 15 minutes. Felt so dumb but also super proud lol. Those noises are always some dumb little thing you just gotta find the right angle on.
