Spent 45 minutes trying to photograph Jupiter through a window screen before I figured it out
I was getting so frustrated that my shots looked like a blurry mess, and I couldn't figure out why until I noticed the screen was still in. Has anyone else ever done something this dumb with their telescope setup?

Just take the screen out completely next time, even a little bit of mesh ruins everything. I gave up on backyard astrophotography until I started shooting from an open window or taking the rig outside.

Well, I gotta say some of you folks make this sound like a major crisis. You're acting like a screen mesh is the end of the world for astrophotography. I've shot plenty of decent moon and Jupiter photos right through a clean window screen and nobody could tell the difference unless they zoomed in real close. If you're chasing magazine quality prints maybe sure take the screen out. But for just sharing online or for personal enjoyment a little mesh never hurt anything. I think people get way too caught up in perfection when half the fun is just getting out there and seeing the planets with your own eyes through the scope.
