That time I nearly ruined my telescope camera sensor

I was out at Joshua Tree last month trying to get a shot of the Andromeda galaxy and forgot to swap my focal reducer off. The dew started rolling in and I didn't catch it until my exposure started looking like a blurry mess. Has anyone else had gear fail on them mid-session because of a simple oversight?

I tried that exact Joshua Tree spot about two years back and I used to think gear mistakes like that were just part of the learning curve, no big deal. But after I accidentally left my intervalometer on the roof of my car and drove off, I realized how one small thing can wreck your whole night. @singh.jessica , the lens cap comment stings because I left that on once for ten minutes before noticing and felt like an idiot. Now I triple check everything before I start shooting, because one simple oversight can cost you hours of clear sky time.

Bet you left the lens cap on too.
