Why does nobody talk about using a star chart app on night mode?
I spent like 4 months trying to identify a faint smudge near Andromeda with my 8 inch Dob. Kept looking at printed charts with a red flashlight and squinting for ages. Then last week I flipped my phone to night mode and zoomed into the same area on SkySafari, the overlay lined up perfectly with the eyepiece view. Found out it was M33 without even knowing I was looking for it. Has anyone else had better luck using the phone on a mount instead of fighting paper charts?
