Almost sprayed a car last Tuesday with a regulator I never checked

Guy I know at a body shop off Highway 9 in Everett loaned me his backup regulator last Tuesday and I almost hooked it straight to my gun without testing it. Turns out it was stuck wide open and would've dumped way too much pressure on a full respray of a silver Accord. Test your regulator on a scrap panel first, takes two minutes. Any of you ever catch one of these right before it ruined a job?
