My old shop lead in Fresno said to skip the primer on plastic bumper covers, and the paint peeled in 8 months
Back when I was starting out at a shop in Fresno, the lead guy there told me primer on bumper covers was a waste of time and money, just scuff it good and shoot base right over it. I did it his way on a silver Camry rear cover, and eight months later the customer came back with paint flaking off in sheets around the tow hook. He also told me you could skip flex additive on small repairs, and I watched a repair on a Civic front cover spiderweb at the edges within a year. I have prepped every cover with adhesion promoter and primer since I left that shop. Anybody else get taught shortcuts by an old timer that cost you callbacks down the road?
