Had a customer bring in a 2012 F-150 with a weird idle that only happened after a cold start in their garage
This was about three days ago. The truck would shake and almost stall for maybe 30 seconds after starting, then run fine. No codes. I spent an hour checking the usual stuff, vacuum lines, MAF sensor, all clean. Then I remembered reading something about ethanol in gas pulling moisture. Their garage is unheated and damp. I asked if they used fuel from the same station every time, and they said yes, the cheap place by the highway. I told them to run the tank low and fill up with top tier gas from a busy station, and add a bottle of Heet. They called today and said the rough idle is gone. Has anyone else seen a fuel quality issue act up only in specific, cold conditions like that? It's got me thinking about winter blends and storage.

Nah, that's way too simple of a fix for a real problem.
