Lead tech told me my diag was 'a parts cannon with a scan tool,' and I changed how I test drive
Last month I threw a crank sensor and two coils at a 2014 Silverado with a misfire and it came back the next day. My lead tech pulled me aside and said I was shooting parts at it instead of actually watching live data on the test drive. Now I spend 15 minutes with the scanner recording before I touch a single bolt, and I caught a bad injector on a Civic last Tuesday in one drive. Cost me $40 in wasted parts to learn that lesson, but it's the best money I never spent again. Any of you got a rule you follow before you start swapping parts?
