I was 19 and stuck on a no-crank on a customer's truck in the lot, and my lead tech Dale walked over and just said hit it with the mallet. I thought he was messing with the new guy, but I tapped the solenoid twice and it fired right up. He told me it bought us time to finish the diag and get the part ordered, not a fix. I still keep a rubber mallet in my box because of him, and it got me off a jobsite last month. Any of you guys still do this or do you just go straight to testing the circuit?
