Caught a cold solder joint on a Garmin G5000 display yesterday before it left the bench in Dallas
Had a pilot come up and say the PFD was flickering on descent, traced it to a pin that looked fine but had a hairline crack under the magnifier, resoldered it and ran the full avionics bus test twice after, anyone else run into intermittent issues that only show up with temperature changes?

That "flickering on descent" part catches my eye because it reminds me of how old car radios would act up on hot days but work fine in the morning. Funny how temperature changes expose weak points that regular bench testing might miss, like that hairline crack you found.

Had a buddy who bought a used receiver off craigslist, worked perfect in his garage all winter. First humid summer day it just gave up completely. Found out later some corrosion on a solder joint was the culprit. Ever seen something like that happen with electronics in extreme heat?
