One lead tech made me redo 3 harnesses, then saved my butt

At the MRO in Tucson this old timer watched me route a bundle and said "that's pretty, but it's wrong" without explaining why. He later showed me how the chafing would kill the wiring in 2 years of vibration, and now I put strain relief first over looks. Anybody else had a senior tech who was harsh but totally right?

Man, is this really that deep? Two years is a long time. Most of these harnesses get swapped out way before that anyway. The old timer was probably just flexing his experience on the new guy. I mean, sure, chafing is a real thing, but they sell those plastic spiral wraps for a reason. It's not like you were running bare wires through a blender. Looks matter too, especially when the customer opens up the panel. Pretty and functional can both happen, you know? I'd say take his advice with a grain of salt and move on.
