Spent $160 on a satellite messenger and it paid off on the JMT this summer
My group got separated by a fast-moving storm near Guitar Lake and the messenger let me coordinate with my buddy who had the tent poles, has anyone else had a similar rescue moment with one of these?

Damn, that's exactly what those things are for! I had a similar thing happen on the PCT where my buddy went ahead and I got turned around after a creek crossing, and the messenger saved me like 3 hours of wandering.
