Can we talk about the cardinal that kept banging on my window?

For weeks, a red cardinal would tap on my kitchen window every morning. I thought it was seeing its reflection and fighting it, which seemed silly. I tried putting up decals, but it kept coming back. Then, I noticed it only did this when my feeder was empty. Now I fill it at night, and the tapping stopped. Guess it was just a hungry bird with a loud way of asking for breakfast.

Saw a robin do that, it just wanted more seed.

Oh for real? I had a robin that would not leave my feeder alone last spring. I put out a little flat tray platform on the ground a few feet away with the same seed mix. It finally went for that instead and let the smaller birds have the hanging one. Some of them just get super fixated.
