inUpdate: The new gasket material sealed the flange perfectly.
Oh man, fiber sheets are the best for that exact job. The older flanges get all those little dings and warps, and that softer material just squishes into the gaps. I keep a few different thicknesses on my truck just for weird old plumbing calls. So much cheaper than hunting down the exact pre-cut gasket too.

Hey @brown.victor, that baking soda trick sounds smart. How much do you use per cup of dried chickpeas? I tried soaked ones once but skipped the baking soda, and my hummus was kinda grainy. Your blender struggle makes me wonder if a food processor would handle the thick mix better, or maybe blending in stages. The creamier texture is totally worth the extra step, though.
