I hit 47 birds on my yard list last week and now I can't tell if that's a lot or nothing
I started keeping a yard list in January 2024 and hit bird number 47 last week, a red headed woodpecker that hung around my suet feeder for maybe 20 seconds. Half of me thinks 47 is a nice number for a plain suburb lot with one oak and a few bushes, and the other half thinks it's low because I know people two streets over who passed 80 using the same feeders. The confusing part is I can't tell if my number is low because of my setup or because those folks just bird longer and harder than I do. So where do you all land on this, is a yard list mostly about habitat and feeders, or is it mostly about hours logged? Would love to hear what number makes you feel like your yard is pulling its weight.
