Can we talk about the raised beds at my grandma's old place in Duluth?

Stopped by last weekend and saw her 3 foot cedar beds from 1998 are still holding up better than the pine ones I built two summers ago, so now I'm wondering if anyone else has had luck with cedar over the long haul or if I just got a bad batch of lumber.
