Tried cedar fence boards for raised beds, pine is way better after 3 seasons

Built my first two raised beds back in 2022 using cedar from Home Depot, cost about $140 total. Just tore them apart last weekend and the cedar was cracked and twisting everywhere, while my buddy's pine beds from the same year are still solid. The pine he used was pressure treated, which I always avoided because of the smell, but it holds up way better in our wet Seattle winters. Anyone else have a similar experience, or do you just replace boards every few years and call it good?

Paid $89 for a pair of those preassembled cedar boxes at Lowes last spring. Looked great for like 2 months. Then the corners started splitting and the bottom boards just turned to mush. Took them apart and the wood was maybe 1/2 inch thick and not even real cedar, just cedar colored pine or something. I could snap a board with my hands. Rebuilding with proper 2x6 cedar from a local lumber yard cost me $140 total but these will last way longer. Anyone else get burned by those flimsy kits? What do you use that actually holds up?

Last year I bought one of those kits from the big box store for $400. It came with those thin brackets and stamped metal parts. I followed the instructions exactly and by fall the slide bracket had already rusted through. I ended up reinforcing every single joint with extra screws and brackets from the hardware store. Has anyone else had better luck reinforcing those kits or am I just better off building from scratch next time?

But after two harsh winters that thing shifted almost 4 inches to the east. Now I'm starting a new 10x12 build and I keep going back and forth. Concrete is solid but costs way more and if I mess up the pour I'm stuck with it. Gravel is easier but I don't want to level it again next spring. What did you guys go with on your sheds and how did it hold up long term?
