DAE almost lose a whole loaf because the bread machine paddle stuck?
Two Sundays ago I was making my usual honey wheat in the machine and pulled the loaf out at the beep, only to find the paddle baked right into the bottom. I tried to dig it out with a butter knife and ripped a hole halfway up the side, so I stood there at 7am holding a busted loaf and a spatula. Instead of pitching it, I sliced around the hole, toasted the pieces, and we ate it with eggs while I soaked the pan in hot water and vinegar for an hour. The paddle popped loose after that soak, no damage, and the next batch came out clean. Has anyone else had a paddle weld itself in, and did soaking actually fix it for you too?
Did you also stand there like a fool shaking the loaf over the sink hoping the paddle would just fall out? I did that for a solid minute once, then gave it a good whack on the counter edge and dented the crust instead. Soaking is my go to now, warm water with a splash of vinegar, and mine slipped right out after about 45 minutes. My real disaster was the time I greased the pan wrong and the whole thing came out lopsided, which my husband still brings up at dinner. At least yours turned into toast and eggs instead of the trash.
