I finally fixed the squeak in my stairs after 4 hours and it was a nail the whole time

Spent my whole Saturday morning on this. I thought it was the wood rubbing together so I pulled up 3 boards and shimmed everything, still squeaked. Turns out it was one loose nail in the riser from when the house was built in 1978. Has anyone else lost half a day to something that dumb?
