Unpopular opinion: the 20 minute walk I take when a job goes bad has fixed more of my days than any pep talk
Last Thursday I drove out to a rental in Ferndale to fix a leaking toilet and found the flange was rotted clean through, plus the shutoff valve snapped when I barely touched it, so I was standing in water at 4pm with a client texting me every 10 minutes. Instead of pushing through and making it worse, I walked down to the corner store, grabbed a Gatorade, and sat on the curb for 20 minutes doing nothing. Came back, cut the old flange out, and had it done in 40 minutes flat. Does anyone else have a hard reset they do mid-job, or do you all just grind through it and hope for the best?
