My buddy swore Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus was a hidden gem and I sat through all 90 minutes waiting for the payoff
So my friend Dave has been running our bad movie night for about two years now and he usually has decent taste in trash. Last Friday he pulls out Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus and tells us it's a masterpiece of the genre, that the shark grabbing a plane out of the sky is peak cinema. I was ready for it. I made a whole pot of chili, got the good couch spot, settled in. Then we get to the actual movie and it's just 90 minutes of stock footage of submarines and people in government offices talking about sonar readings. The shark shows up maybe four times total and each time it looks like a screensaver from 2004. Dave kept saying just wait, just wait, and the payoff never came, not even a good laugh. I've sat through Birdemic and The Room without checking my phone once and I checked my phone eleven times during this thing. So what's the actual cutoff here, do you all give a movie credit for one funny scene or does it need to be bad the whole way through to count?
