Put on The Room with subtitles off and it was a totally different movie
So my buddy Dave and I do bad movie night every other Friday at his place in Akron and we decided to finally do The Room because neither of us had seen it. Problem was his soundbar was busted so we watched the whole thing with subtitles only, no audio. I expected to laugh at the terrible lines but honestly the body language and the weird pauses hit so much harder when you can't hear anything. Tommy Wiseau just standing there staring for like 30 seconds at a time while a caption says something normal is way funnier than hearing him say it. We ended up rewinding the flower shop scene 4 times because the subtitles made zero sense without the delivery. Now I'm wondering if we ruined it or actually found the best way to watch it. Has anyone tried doing the mute plus subtitles thing with other bad movies and does it hold up, or was this just a one time fluke?
